Family Session | NELSONS

The Nelsons family session was rescheduled a few times because … COVID. And college kids’ schedules make it tricky to schedule family photos. And emergency travel plans. Isn’t that par for the course this year? Luckily we landed on a date and they had the most beautiful location at their fingertips. Isn’t this the most glorious yard? There were flowers for days and gorgeous evening light. It almost makes me want to take up gardening. Almost.

We squeezed this family session in just before their oldest son left for his two-year church mission. I always recommend family photos before someone in the family leaves for a long-term absence like a mission or when kids leave for college. People change, kids grow, sometimes siblings get married during the interim. You’ll never regret documenting your family before these changes happen. Not to mention how difficult it is to gather everyone in one place once they begin to scatter. I think we’ve done family photos for the past three years with so many changes happening in our family. As a result I treasure each of those photos.

Would you believe this session took place during a heat wave? We scheduled this session at 7pm and it was exactly 102 degrees during the entire hour. Therefore I was a sweaty mess by the end but I was super impressed that this family endured and look perfectly comfortable in their photos. It helped that they ducked inside when they weren’t in front of the camera. Their sweet little dog made it into a few as well. I’m a sucker for dogs so that made the session even better. Never hesitate to include your dogs in your family photos. Ours are important members of our family and try and include them whenever we can. Message me if you have any hesitancy in bringing your dogs along.
