A Haunting | Bay Area Portrait Photographer

I love fall.  It’s my favorite time of year.  I have sweet memories of jumping in freshly raked calico-colored leaf piles, chilly evenings, hot cider, and frosty mornings as a kid living in Michigan.  California doesn’t have quite the same change of seasons but it has just enough to get my fill of fall.  Along with fall comes Halloween and I’ve always been a big fan.  But not as big of a fan as my sister Jennifer of Tatertotsandjello.  Her house has been decorated for Halloween for a month now.  Even though most of her kids are too old for trick-or-treating, like mine, she still gets dressed up to hand out candy to the kids on Halloween night.  She’s the biggest fan of Halloween that I know.  That’s why, when we were in Utah this past summer and she took me on a tour of the little cottage around the corner that she had just started renovating, a little voice beckoned from the cobwebs of the dark recesses with the words “haunted family portraits”.  Freaky, I know.   But I’ll take inspiration from wherever I can find it!  Of course my sister was all for the idea, as was the rest of the crew.  So we did our best to dress them in period clothing and applied a little haunted make-up and headed down the street to the bare bones of her late 1800s cottage.

(I have to give a shout out to my very talented friend, Kamee June, for the inspiration.  She has done some amazing haunted shoots in the past few years and I’ve always loved them and was totally inspired to try my hand at my own.)
